Dear Sponsors, Attendees and Supporters,
This event is sponsored by the Marine Riders Group-Carolina Post located in Greensboro, NC. We are a 501(c)3 organization and our members are former and active-duty Marines and FMF Corpsmen. To be a member, you must be a member of the Marine Corps League, an Active Duty Marine, or an FMF Corpsman. We are a Family Oriented Group.
We are nonpolitical. Distinction of class, nationality, or sect will not be recognized nor tolerated by our organization. Our members act in good faith with other members, and uphold the finest traditions of the United States Marine Corps. Our Members come from all walks of life. We ride all makes of motorcycles both foreign and domestic. It isn't the type of machine that counts; it's the fact that we are Marines, with a passion for the Freedom commonly found with our Motorcycles. One of many Freedoms our Brothers and the Marines before us have died to preserve.
Our Post’s focus is on raising funds for the Wounded Warriors Barracks at Camp Lejeune NC, also referred to as the Wounded Warrior Regiment Battalion East.
The Outer Banks Bike Rally begins our fundraising for 2008. The event is held in Grandy, NC at Walnut Island Resort in Grandy, NC and Digger’s Dungeon just up the road in Popular Branch, NC Friday April 25 through Sunday April 27.
Working together with Hope for the Warriors™ and The Naval Special Warfare Foundation, our goal is to have the biggest fundraiser to date for our Wounded Troops and their Families. Proceeds will be presented to the respective foundations at a formal ceremony anticipated to occur in June 2008.
This year we will be having the traditional Treasure Hunt (Poker Run) along with the addition of the Pirate of the Currituck’s Bike Rodeo, the 1st Annual Pirate Ball and a Tug of War between the Marines and the Navy. We are working on securing Fly-Overs by all Military Branches.
Dennis Anderson (Gravedigger) has offered his seven acres of land for camping, vendors and the rodeo. He will have Monster Trucks on display and may bring out the Gravedigger truck if it’s available.
After the Poker Run & Rodeo, there will be Live Music at the Pirate Ball with the famous JB Walker and the Cheap Whiskey Band. Dress up as a Wench or Pirate.
To win cash, come dressed to win! The best overall Pirate and Wench in costume will win a $250 each cash prize. We will also have a People’s Choice Award for the Best Wench. The lucky winner gets $500.
Support your Military Branch! During the ball we will have “Raise the Booty” contests. Wenches representing each branch of military service will have 30 minutes to collect money for their branch. At the end, the one with the most money wins. ALL proceeds will go to the winning branch to help their wounded warriors.
Don't miss all the fun at the Outer Banks Bike Rally 2008!
